The Colony: a brilliant atmosphere at the Little Shore

Posted on 22nd July 2025 | in Community

It’s the time of year when weather reports are checked double checked and if not happy with forecast, checked on every app available…and we all know, it’s not The Colony without a refreshing offering from the skies.

Crowd dancing to Six Card Trick

DJ Jamie Mac started the party and kept it going all day with high energy and varied music collection. Scanning the growing audience for inspiration and hitting the right notes, his back catalogue was spun into action with hits through the ages.

The opening act of any festival is always difficult for the most seasoned of performers, but to do it as a solo at 18 takes some talent. That was not a problem for Lyra who has been perfecting her craft for this exact moment. A great debut.

Rick and Yiota rocking The Colony

Rick and Yiota continued the good vibes and rocked The Colony like a “Wagon Wheel”. The crowd pumped up with a classic singalong joined in the country vibes with their unique rendition of “Zombie”.

Another debut this year was PARRK. Great musicality and a voice that grabbed everyone’s attention and never let go, they had the youth bouncing to a performance of “Love Story” that Swifty would be proud of.

Alnwick Allstars

Alnwick Allstars were a new addition to the lineup, and they delivered with so much choir sound power that the wind tried but failed to push them back.

Next up was a return to the Little Shore for Bear Park. Last time out, their performance was rewarded with a contract the next day. We’re not saying the festival provided the main reason for that, but being the best Colony music festival in Amble, we probably helped a lot. Banging out a medley of their own hits is always hard to an unfamiliar crowd, but Amble embraced them with loving arms and danced away to these fresh new tunes.

Bear Park

Due to a vocal injury the much loved Odels had to withdraw late. Who else could step up but Six Card Trick, who needed to “know when to hold them and know when to fold them”’ when extending their set into a two hour music marathon. They are a festival favourite who never fail to deliver.

To our amazing bands and performers, Six Card Trick, Bear Park, Parrk, Rick & Yiota, Alnwick Allstars, Lyra, and DJ Jamie Mac — your talent, energy, and passion lit up the stage and brought joy to everyone in attendance. Your performances created a brilliant atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of the event.

It’s through collaborations like this — between community, local business, and local talent — that we’re able to celebrate what makes our area so special. We are incredibly grateful for your involvement and hope to work with you again in the future.
