News from Amble Development Trust

Hello everyone, welcome back to Trust Life, and dark wintery nights.

At last we are pleased to announce that sports have started at the Playzone. Football practice and a potential padel board league are likely to be advertised in the coming weeks. As the area is floodlit anyone hardy enough to be outdoors can book the court by either scanning the code at the Playzone, or even easier, by contacting Matthew at the Trust office: 01665 712929.

Sports Hall
Work on the Business Case for the retention of the existing JCSC sports hall continues and needs to be submitted before 28 November for NCC to consider the proposal. We are working with a volunteer steering group made up of members from all areas of the community who have been offering support and ideas on a wide range of uses. There is still time to let us know if you support the proposal or if you have ideas that could be incorporated. It is good to know that our ideas are being supported by our town and county councillors and hopefully our combined efforts can make this happen. Amble – big ideas happen here!

Neighbourhood Planning
The steering group held two community drop in sessions which were well attended and received many positive comments on the plan presented. This was classed as an informal consultation with a formal one to follow. Then the process is for the plan to be reviewed by NCC to ensure our plan meets with all the legislative criteria matching with the Local Plan then all being agreed the plan is adopted and formally classed as a ‘made’plan. This plan will then inform future planning decisions.
Please watch out for the dates for the formal consultation which we hope will be early in the new year. It is your chance to have your say.

Amble: Looking Forward
Working with the town council we held a combined meeting of presentations for ‘Amble: Looking Forward’. Luke McTaggart updated on progress of the Neighbourhood Plan, Matthew from the Trust presented on plans for the existing Sports Hall and Tony Regan new town councillor on the Tourism Economy.

The meeting was well attended and we hope the attendees left with a positive view of the direction we hope to take the town in the coming months and years. Thanks go to ATC for organising the event – it is refreshing to work with a proactive organisation.

The King’s Award
And finally – the Trust has been awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) for its work with volunteers. The Trust is proud to accept this award, which is the equivalent of an MBE for organisations, on behalf of all the volunteers in the town who make Amble such a special place to live. Thank you all.

And while there are still a few weeks to go, from everyone at the Trust, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.
