Five of 14 newly built affordable bungalows have been let to people with a connection to Amble, The Ambler has learned.

Built by HUSK, the eco properties are owned by Northumberland County Council, and leased at an affordable rate.

The bungalows were constructed on the site of old council garages on St Lawrence Avenue, Kennedy Road, Alndale, and Andrew Drive.

The new bungalow addresses on St Lawrence Ave are designated Mauretania Close, those on Kennedy Road are Staithes Court, while those on Andrew Drive are Keel Court. The Alndale bungalows’ address remains Alndale.

They were offered to residents via the county council’s Homefinder site and bidding has now closed.

NCC told The Ambler there had been 578 applications in total, although as the bungalows were advertised in address batches, the same applicants may have bid on multiple adverts.
