St. Mark’s new minister

Posted on 21st October 2010 | in Community

When St.Mark’s United Reformed Church in Amble was looking for a Minister its answer was just down the road in Morpeth. Alison Mills from Loansdean was ordained and inducted to the URC ministry, with Pastoral Charge for St.Mark’s, on October 9th in the presence of her family, many friends and members of the Amble and Mid-Northumberland churches.

As a Non Stipendiary Minister she will continue teaching at Ponteland High School.  This will make her a very busy lady however this is nothing new.  The past four years when she has been training and working will have been good practice.  She readily acknowledges that this would have been well nigh impossible without the love and support of her family.

Alison’s father, Revd. John Pagan was also a URC minister and would have been proud of his daughter’s commitment and achievement.  Happily, Alison’s mother Freda was present for the ordination.

Alison is no stranger to Amble, having taught here and also (as part of her training) assisted the Chaplaincy Team  at Castington HMYOI.
Commenting on her big day, Revd. Mills said ‘It has been  wonderful to see so many friends and supporters over this weekend.  I could not have wished for a better welcome to Amble and greatly look forward to my ministry here’.
