Warkworth Christmas Lights

Friday 26th November marks the start of Christmas festivities in Warkworth village with the annual ‘Switch on’ and late night shopping event.

After the success of the procession last year the evening is again commencing at 6.00pm at the Sun Hotel for mulled wine, juice and biscuits. Everyone has been invited to attend and whilst locals gather and  the children collect their lanterns they will be entertained by students from Coquet High School and other local schools, performing songs from their Christmas production of ‘Joseph and his Multicolour Dreamcoat’, (taking place at Coquet High School 8,9,10 December).

The joint schools ‘Joseph’ choir will lead the parade down Castle St at 6.20pm meeting at the church entrance for the grand switch on by Santa Claus and possibly a little helper! Many of the shops in the village will be open for browsing and spending until 9.00pm, the Memorial Hall is hosting a number of stalls and the Church will be open for refreshments and to escape the crowds. The village choir have been asked to attend and we are hoping they will sing in the churchyard  spreading the true meaning of Christmas and setting the perfect atmosphere for this wonderful village event.

The Warkworth Village Lights Committee would like to offer their thanks to everyone who has donated this year or who intends to donate in our latest fundraising intiatives; the envelope drop and a Christmas Dance on 29th December-tickets on sale at the village shop.

26th November falls on a Saturday and not a Friday. I went into the site as I wanted to know when the Warkworth Lights Swich on is and am still none the wiser. Is it Friday 25th or Saturday 26th?
