At the start of the lockdown The Ambler reported on the amazing work our local businesses were providing for people, help in shopping, deliveries, making their store layout safe etc.

Fraser Fortune, owner of the Independent Food & Drink shop on Queen St wanted to let customers know of some changes they have made since then.

– We’ve a free delivery system in place for anyone who can not leave the house. In Amble and the surrounding areas it’s Monday and Wednesday, and to the north on Tuesday and Thursday.

– We’ve set up a very simple online form for people to place orders at https://www.indiefood.co.uk/order-form and we’ll also pick up prescriptions, bread, newspapers…

– For those who don’t want to order using the internet they can call Carrie on 01665 721057 and she’ll take it over the phone.

– For those who can get out we’ve a click and collect (different web address https://www.indiefood.co.uk/click-collect) or the same telephone number and we can put it straight in to peoples car boots without face to face contact.

The shop is still open from 9 to 4 Monday to Saturday where we’ve introduced a ‘one customer at a time’ policy, reduced the self service and have screens between staff and customers as well as appropriate PPE.
