New fish and chip shop looking for staff

Welcome to Lewis’s Fish and Chip shop, the newest arrival on Queen Street. Owner Scott Priestley told The Ambler that the opportunity to open in Amble was “too good to miss”. Scott’s family have run Lewis’s Fish Restaurant in Seahouses for decades, so he is no stranger to the business.

“To be honest it never crossed my mind to open in Amble until it was suggested to me. But Amble is up and coming; it’s had a lot of money spent on it. And it’s always busy.”

Lewis’s is taking over Trotter’s bakery and will be keeping the business in the family. “My Dad took over from the original Mr Lewis about 30 years ago, and it’s been in our family ever since,” said Scott. “I’m hoping my Uncle will run the Amble shop but I will be in overall charge. It’s nice to keep it in the family.

They are hoping to be open for next Friday, (30 April). The business will operate as a take away throughout the summer and are looking for five or six staff. Contact Scott via Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lewissfishrestaurant or call in at the shop on Queen Street.

This is the best news I’ve heard, to know that things are moving on, that businesses are taking the step forward to bring us joy and hope for better times. Great to have a bit of Seahouses brought right here to Amble. I luv fish n chips, my most fave cuisine.

    Well done Scott.
