Food bank update
Amble Food Bank (AFB) again thanks our wonderful communities for their generosity! We are the most generous port, as well as the friendliest! Thanks to our supermarkets, businesses, schools, care homes, charities and individuals for their support. We try to acknowledge everyone on our Facebook page.
Morrisons continue to organise the pick-up bags and the Co-op manage the food bins and the Sunday food share (clients benefit from food that would otherwise go to waste).
Did you see us on Tyne Tees news? They did a feature on the Oswin Project that runs a farm shop based at HMP Northumberland. At the end of the week their surplus food is donated to AFB allowing us to add fresh produce to our parcels.
As the price of a Morrisons pickup bag has risen, you may prefer to buy your own items, you can leave them in our cage by the tills. Alternatively, there are food donation bins in the Co-op and Tesco. Please note we are unable to give out anything containing alcohol.
With increasing referrals, we need to carry out additional food shops. So to make a financial donation of cash or cheque address an envelope to AFB and drop it off at Trinity Methodist Church. Use Amble Food Bank, sort code 77-20-04, account number 17925260 to make a bank transfer. We are registered with HMRC so tax payers can Gift Aid. (e-mail for a form amble.fb@gmail.com).To get a referral, go through an agency such as CAB or Northumberland Communities Together on 01670 620015,
