Greetings from a member of the Bahá’i faith

Bahá’ís have celebrated two very special days in the last few months.

Our 19 day fast finished on 20 March, the day which is called Naw Ruz, or New Year.
It’s interesting that this year, the Bahá’í fast was at the same time as the beginning of Lent, as well as coinciding with the Muslim fasting period, so many of us were observing a time of abstinence together.

On 20 April is the first holy day of Ridvan (pronounced Riz-vaan) which commemorates the time when Bahá u’lláh called some of His companions together and told them who He was, and began to reveal the message He was bringing for the world.
The message is one which holds the answers to all of the problems of today, and tells us that the Faiths of the past are all from one God, we are all one family, and that world peace can and will be with us.

It is a message of absolute hope. If you would like to know more, please visit bahai.org.uk or message bahais.amble@gmail.com for news of local events.

The last congregation at Hauxley Church

The sun shone for Hauxley Church’s final service on Easter Day.

Forty four attendees included families from as far as York for what was a sad but moving historic ceremony, led by Rev. Ian Farnsworth, who first preached there in 2011.
The building will be handed back this summer to its owner, who hopes to retain a community use for it.

Not up to me to propose a vote of thanks, but many thanks to the owner of the property for a lovely place to pray and thanks to parishioners for their devotion.

The fervour shown by Christians at the Vatican was so reassuring. Amble is blessed to have so many churches built when the local population was nowhere near what it is now. There are grandparents in Amble and their parents before them who gave up going to church. In fact, they have no knowledge of the religion or even a simple Bible quote. Amble does need a Christian revival and it is up to our youth to bring this about, to give up an hour of 24/7 and to take it to the Lord in prayer.
