Amble’s Repair Café: More than a quick fix
The inaugural Amble Repair Café was hosted at Dry Water Arts on 19 July. The success of the event highlighted several of the ambitions of the wider global repair café movement.

Rather than adding items to the vast amounts of stuff that go to landfill, our nine menders tackled a range of tasks resulting in items such as lamps, fans, a vase, gardening shears and even a much-loved teddy bear, getting a new lease of life.
As well as people appreciating the value of their fixed items, many also had a sociable experience, getting to know others and kindling enthusiasm for our local sustainable community – new friends and connections were made over coffee and cake.
Our range of skilled menders got appreciation for their invaluable practical skills and were able to share their skills and knowledge with each other too. Altogether a win – win scenario!
Why don’t you give it a go? The next cafés are at Dry Water Arts on 27th September and 22nd November from 2.30-4.30pm.
