Martin Thrumble, Technical Director Persimmon Homes North East handed over the cheque to Gary Morrison from Amble AFC. He told The Ambler, “It was a pleasure to visit Amble Juniors FC and see first-hand the valuable work the club are doing in the community. We are proud to support the club and hope this donation goes far in helping them.”

The award was made from the Community Champions scheme to Gary Morrison from Amble AFC.

Gary said “I made the application to Persimmon for support for what we do for young people in Amble. There are over 250 players registered with our club, who benefit from the coaching and care that we give.”

MP David Smith also attended the event and told The Ambler he was happy to see grassroots football having such a great impact on the well-being of the community.

Club Secretary, Matthew Connolly said “While the support from Persimmon is very welcome, it is the volunteering from our community that is the heartbeat of our club, as shown by the fundraising run that Connie has done recently.”

He added “Ronnie Gibbard has been involved in football for over 60 years. People like him and Connie represent the breadth of community input into football in Amble.”
