AMBLE: LOOKING FORWARD EVENT
Amble Town Council, Amble Development Trust and the Amble Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group came together to work on a joint stakeholder and community-engagement event to foster a conversation about the future of our town. It took place on 4 November and featured a series of presentations on topics like tourism, our local economy, the emerging Neighbourhood Plan, and ADT’s vision for a Sports Village. We will be providing an update about this soon!
ACTIVE TRAVEL
We have recently met with NCC officers regarding Amble’s inclusion in future Active Travel schemes. We are excited to work with NCC to ensure these schemes are developed in the right areas of town (informed by some of our Neighbourhood Plan casework) that will maximise usage and public support, creating more impactful and better used pieces of walking & cycling infrastructure.
NEIGHBOURHOOD PLANNING
There was a good attendance at the Interim Consultation Events for the Amble Neighbourhood Plan. The communities’ views on the 7 policy areas will be taken into consideration when working on the policy areas in more detail.
The 7 areas we are looking at developing policies for are:
Local Green Space, Protected Open Space, Sustainable Transport, Community Facilities, Economic Development,
Affordable Housing, Primary Residency
For more information on the Neighbourhood Plan, visit their website: https://www.ambleplan.org/
IT’S YOUR TOWN – feedback and suggestions.
Whilst we continue to liaise with NCC on matters such as a lack of facilities, planning matters and highways issues, we do welcome feedback and suggestions from all members of our community. If you would like to know more about what we are doing for the town or would like to know how you can get involved in our work please contact us on 01665 714695 or ask@amble.gov.uk.

TOILETS
By the time you read this, our long awaited and newly refurbished toilets should have been finished. We are pleased to finally have a fit for purpose facility which we hope will continue to be a valuable asset to the town.
ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
The Chairman attended Operation Impact, a multi-agency Day of Action headed by Northumbria Police. It was great to see officers from Northumbria Police engaging with members of the community in the Town Square and hope this kind of activity can take place more regularly. We are aware that anti-social behaviour continues to blight the town and we take this very seriously. We urge anyone who experiences or witnesses any incidents report these directly to Northumbria Police.
TOWN COUNCIL STRATEGIC PLAN
Councillors have been working on the development of a four-year plan to drive Council priorities forward. We intend to consult with residents once the plan is finalised and are keen to hear your view on its contents. We will be holding public consultation events for this – watch this space!
COUNCILLOR’S CORNER
I’d like to wish all residents of our town a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on behalf of Amble Town Council. Amble always does Christmas very well and this year has been no exception. What an excellent demonstration of community spirit for our Annual Light’s Procession. I’d like to thank two key groups involved in making this happen; the Amble Events Committee and the Amble Christmas Lights Committee. Both composed of very dedicated volunteers that work year-round to put on something really special for local people. I am delighted Amble Town Council has been able to increase its funding to both groups this year to enable this to continue.
Overall, we’ve had a really productive year; it’s been my pleasure to take on the role of Mayor and lead the group of councillors all volunteering their time to make Amble a better place to live. We’ve made a lot of progress on a whole host of issues facing our town as well as continuing to develop the likes of the Neighbourhood Plan and working with Amble Development Trust on their Sports Hall project, which both look to the future. All whilst fulfilling our statutory responsibilities to the upkeep of our cemeteries, waste bins and bus stops, as well as supporting community groups with grants.
So a big thanks to all members of the public who’ve engaged with us as we work to broaden our outreach and represent all parts of the community, and as well to our dedicated team of staff that work very hard year-round to keep ATC running smoothly.
