Trust Life #156
News from Amble Development Trust
Hello everyone, welcome back to Trust Life, and as I write this, lots of snow!
We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to a busy, happy and fruitful new year.
Sports Hall
The Business Case for the retention of the existing JCSC sports hall was completed and submitted within the timeframe NCC asked for, so now we wait to see what transpires and what their decision will be.
The submission was a very detailed piece of work outlining several options: how we could work with JCSC and NCC in partnership or independently and how each scenario could be worked, operated and funded.
We hope this will be more than a sports hall, but will also offer exhibition space, leisure and cultural activities, act as a music venue and offer support services.
The support of the Town Council has been heartening. Knowing they understand the vision we are trying to achieve for the community and are willing to support us to reach that goal has been encouraging.
Their support is currently ‘in principle’ until we know the outcome and we are then able to provide them with more detailed information to allow them to make a formal decision regarding possible funding towards any renovations or equipment required.
NCC haven’t given a decision date so far, other than the date they needed to have the submission received.
Neighbourhood Planning
The steering group volunteers have had a break over Christmas with the next meeting scheduled for February. The timeframe being worked towards still stands so please keep a look out for future community drop in sessions. The Town Council website also offers updates. It is your chance to have your say.
The King’s Award
Following the announcement of the Trust being awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Organisations (KAVO) for its work with volunteers, a celebratory event was held on 15 December, where the Lord Lieutenant handed the Trust chair a scroll and an inscribed crystal.
These were accepted on behalf of all those who volunteer with the Trust and for all other organisations who depend on volunteers in the town to enable them to function and provide vital services. Many were invited and those who managed to come along enjoyed a light lunch and a glass of fizz. Once again we offer our thanks to you all.
