A cheeky thief has taken to helping himself to an Amble fish supper – directly from the boat.
Fisherman Kevin Henderson noticed that bait boxes on his boat were being moved in the night. Perplexed, he bought a camera to see what was going on.

Kevin told The Ambler: ā€œIt started about the first week in November, I put the bait on board in the afternoon ready for going down at 4am the following morning. I noticed the boxes had been moved. It kept happening and I thought it might be rodents, but it would have to be a very big one to move boxes that size. So I got a camera and when I saw it was an otter, I was over the moon.ā€

Kevin runs Amble Boat Trips and has put the video footage of ā€˜Larry Otter’ on his Facebook page. On one occasion the otter was follwed by a heron, striding around checking out the deck.

Resourceful Larry Otter finds Kevin’s boat Natalie Kristen II wherever it’s moored – whether it’s the harbour or the Marina.
ā€œHe knows where we are!ā€ laughed Kevin. ā€œHe’s a great attraction. We went away for a week and when we got back there he was back on board sitting eating, crunching away. Those fish are bony. If he’s not careful he’ll need a dentist!
