AMBLE GARDEN AND CIVIC AWARDS
The 2026 Amble Garden and Civic Awards were held on 14 July. The event was very well attended as always, with some very deserving winners being recognised for all their hard work. This year also included the presentation of Honorary Freeman of the Town. The Good Young Citizen of the Year Award was given to Barney Falkous from Amble Links Primary School. Well Done All.

GRANTS
As our new financial year has begun that means we have a new grant budget available to help support community groups. This month we were able to support Escape Family Support, Hospice Care North Northumberland and The Colony Music Festival.
RECYCLING
Amble Town Council are looking to arrange a public engagement event with the Northumberland County Council Recycling Officer. This will be a good opportunity to learn about the new recycling scheme and ask any questions ahead of its implementation. Keep a look out on our website and social media for the date.
DOG POO BAGS
With immediate effect, dog waste bags will no longer be supplied to Parish and Town Councils or local community centres for onward distribution. Instead, all bag supplies will be delivered directly to designated local libraries. Members of the Green Dog Walker Scheme will be able to collect bags from these locations by presenting proof of their membership to library staff in the form of their letter or Green Dog Walker Badge.
NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
The submission of the plan is becoming increasingly urgent. At Full Council on 9 July 2026, Members agreed on a reduced 6 policy area scope; Local Green Space and Protected Open Space, Economic Development, Regeneration, Sustainable Transport, Community Facilities, Primary Residency. A “wish list” of other areas can be attached to the plan and although they do not carry the same weight as policy areas, they do give an indication around what is important to the Town on a wider scale. Public consultations will be held in due course.
ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
There continues to be anti social behaviour blighting the lives of residents in the Town, most recently vehicular anti social behaviour in and around Morrisons car park and the A1068. We are working closely with partners on these issues hoping to achieve a suitable resolution as soon as possible.
Once again, we are also experiencing anti-social behaviour in and around the Memorial Gardens and Clock Tower. If you see this type of behaviour taking place, please report it to Northumbria Police.
Finally, we ask all residents and visitors alike to be considerate to others when parking their vehicles and not to block important access and exit points.
