Long standing town and county councillor Ian Hinson has died

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Ian Hinson, a former Amble Town Council councillor, who will be remembered for his service to the local community and his commitment to the town and its residents. He was 87.

Ian committed a lifetime to public service with an astounding 42 years of experience before his retirement from public service in 2018. Ian first worked with the Amble Urban Council before Amble Town Council came into existence in 1974 and headed up Amble Town Council as Chairman numerous times throughout his service. He last served as Chairman between 2012-2013.
In 2018, Ian was awarded the title of Honorary Freeman of the Town in recognition for his unwavering support and commitment to Amble.
His involvement in local government and local issues reflected a genuine concern for the community and a willingness to give his time to help make a difference.
Those who knew Ian will remember him not only for his role in local government, but also as a member of the Amble community and someone who had the townspeople at the heart of everything that he did. His contribution to the town forms an important part of his legacy, and his passing will be felt by those who knew him, worked alongside him and valued his service.
The thoughts of everyone at Amble Town Council, together with the wider community, are with Ian’s family, friends and loved ones at this sad time.
Ian Hinson will be remembered with respect and gratitude for the service he gave to Amble.

Ian’s funeral will be held at St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, Amble on Thursday 27 August at 1pm
