TRUST Life #160
News
from Development Trust
As always happens at during the summer, things slow down, every organisation we work with has staff on holiday so ‘out of office’ email returns become the norm and progress on everything comes to a virtual full stop!
That said, over the school holidays we have worked with NCC, to try to bring together a solution to the issue of access over the Welfare, for JCSC staff and students.
There are many issues that to an outsider may seem boring and trivial, but are necessary to resolve to ensure the safety of all users. With increased footfall there needs to be a plan in place for maintenance and lighting, which the Trust cannot provide.
The Trust, while owning the land, offers its use (other than the Playzone) free of charge to the community and does not realise an income from it. The land is covered by caveats imposed by the original owner before ownership passed to Alnwick District Council, many years ago. So while the negotiations may appear tiresome they are necessary. Hopefully all will be resolved soon.
In October we will hold the second Town Forum meeting. Hopefully, the tender briefs for the two Feasibility Studies will be finalised. This will open up the opportunity for the community to offer some input into what they feel the town requires in relation to Sport & Leisure and Public Realm works.
We also expect an update on Coble Quay walkway including: •Scheme Design
•Heads of Terms finalised. •Programme and delivery timescales.
On the Neighbourhood Plan: this is currently with the consultant, with the steering group awaiting feedback. Given the potential for more housing applications, the group feels it is imperative to have the Plan made as soon as possible.
