Footie fan Connie teams up with TV star Brad
Sports-mad youngster Connie Robinson has raised an impressive £800 for her local girls football team after running the Junior Great North Run, supported by media star Brad McClelland, and her school teachers.

Connie told The Ambler, “I wanted to raise money for Amble AFC Junior Girls as I play on the under 10 girls team. I wanted to raise money for them so it would help pay for things we need. My coaches David and Kez are fantastic and help us become better footballers, so I wanted to give something back to help them with the team.”
Connie, who has just turned 10, is very active and trained for the run with ITV Love Island’s Brad McClelland, who is a very good family friend.
She said, “I trained a lot with Brad. I started running the park runs at Druridge Bay with my school teacher Mrs Oliver and my headmaster Mr Heeley.
“When I was not playing a football match, then I did the park runs with Brad; each time I got my personal best time. We would also run mid-week between 5k-7k. Brad really encouraged me, and I love running with him.”
She completed the 2025 4k Junior Great North run in 19mins 12 seconds, finishing in 25th place.
Connie said, “If you believe in yourself, you can do anything you set your mind to. Even though I was very nervous as there were so many people in the race.”

Her mother Dawn Robinson told us, “She had a sponsor form in Headmasters Barber Shop and the generosity of people in Amble and surrounding areas helped her raise a whopping total of £802.00 for this fabulous club. It’s very expensive to keep the teams going with lots of added costs that people don’t see, so that amount raised will be a massive boost for the team.
“We just want to thank everyone that kindly sponsored Connie and supported her.”
