JCSC students looking to the future
James Calvert Spence College (JCSC) students celebrated A Level and Level 3 results, with every student securing an offer at a destination of their choice or progressing into a career they had hoped to pursue. Their GCSE and Level 2 results saw pupils securing places on a wide range of academic, vocational and employment pathways.

Headteacher, Mr Andriot, praised the hard work and determination of both students and staff, highlighting the wide range of exciting futures now open to the school’s young people:
“Today is a hugely proud moment for our students, their families and the staff who have supported them throughout their time at JCSC. What makes today particularly special is knowing that every one of our Year 13 students has a destination ahead of them that reflects their ambitions – whether that is university, employment or a career they have worked towards.”
He added, “We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students and everything they have achieved. These results represent much more than grades, they reflect perseverance, resilience and hard work. It has been wonderful to see so many students collecting results that allow them to move on to the next stage of their education or career, whether that’s at Sixth Form, college, apprenticeships or employment.
Our students have worked incredibly hard and today is a chance to celebrate their achievements and the opportunities their results have opened up. We wish each student every success as they begin this exciting new chapter.”

Among the outstanding individual achievements is Thea, who achieved an exceptional four A grades in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics. Thea is “very excited” to now head to the University of Leeds to study Mathematics.
Thea’s mum, Lydia, said: “Over the past weeks Thea convinced herself she had failed everything, so we have had extensive talks about what Plan B would look like in that situation! I never doubted her for a minute! We are so proud of her and everything she has achieved.”
Grace is also celebrating fantastic results and is now looking forward to studying Pharmacy at the University of Bath.

There was also huge success among JCSC’s T-Level students, a vocational qualification equivalent to three A Levels.
Paige and Cerys, who studied T Level Education and Early Years, both achieved Distinctions – the highest T-Level grade, broadly equivalent to three A grades at A Level.
Paige is heading to York St John University to study Primary Education with QTS, while Cerys has chosen to defer university for a year.
Liam, who studied the T Level Digital course, discovered a real passion for coding during an enjoyable work experience placement at Alncom. He will now continue developing his skills at Northumbria University, where he will study Cyber Security and Networking.
A number of other students are also celebrating results that will allow them to pursue subjects and careers they are passionate about.
Conn is heading to Northumbria University to study Sport and Nutrition, while Alex will study Psychology at Newcastle University. Will has secured a highly sought-after degree apprenticeship in Marine Engineering.
Daisy will pursue her passion for Fashion at Northumbria University, while Martha is heading to Chester to study Music Journalism.
For Mollie and Katie, their next steps will take them directly into the workplace, having secured full-time employment in catering and childcare respectively.
GCSE results
Among those celebrating was Isla, who achieved an outstanding Grade 9 in English Literature and Grade 8 in Art. She will continue her studies in to sixth form, taking A Levels in Art, History and Psychology.

Psychology and Criminology have proved particularly popular choices for students progressing to post-16 study, with Libby, Marissa, Chloe, Freya, Bret and Millie among those choosing these subjects alongside combinations including Applied Science, Sport and Business.
Riley achieved a strong set of results in Science, gaining grade 6s across the board. He will continue his studies at JCSC Sixth Form, taking Biology, Applied Science, Sport and Psychology.
There was a double celebration for Amelia, who turned 18 today and also received the news that she had passed her GCSE English resit. Amelia will return to JCSC in September to continue into Year 13 and complete her A Level studies.

For others, today marks the beginning of a new educational journey. Maisey was delighted with her results and will be heading to Newcastle College in September to study Criminology.
Theo pictured celebrating in his painting and decorating gear, as he headed straight to work following results collection, was “buzzing” with his results, particularly his Grade 7 in Maths. Theo will continue his studies in Maths, ICT and Sport at JCSC Sixth Form.
Another Year 11 student, also named Theo, is preparing to study Engineering at Ashington College, while Kenzie, who was particularly pleased with his Grade 6s in Maths and English, has enrolled on a Physiotherapy course at Newcastle College.

Alongside academic routes, a number of students are progressing into vocational education and developing practical skills for their chosen careers. Robert, Alfie and Riley will attend Northumberland College to build on the Level 1 construction skills they have already developed at school and progress to a higher-level construction course.
Other students heading into vocational study include Andrew, who will study Mechanical Engineering; Megan, who is heading to Newcastle to study Travel and Tourism; and Rihanna, who will pursue Beauty and Hairdressing.
There was positive news in the number of students achieving a grade 4 or above in both English and Mathematics, with this key measure increasing compared with last year. These essential qualifications provide students with a strong foundation to progress onto Level 3 courses, apprenticeships, further education and employment.
