Meet the police and have your say

Come and meet the police and have your say on how we can help with any police related issues you may have in your area.

The Amble Neighbourhood policing team are hosting a police community forum at The Dovecote centre on Thursday 8th July 2010 at 6:30 pm.

This forum is your opportunity to meet with your local neighbourhood police officers and community support officers. The last forum was reasonably well attended and many of the problems raised have already been solved. However we urge members of the public to come along and voice any concerns that they might have.

As a Neighbourhood policing team we are going to be encouraging people to become members of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and the forum will also be used as a platform to campaign for new members.

The summer policing plan has been drawn up for the area. Over and above routine policing the following will be our priorities.
• The tackling of anti social behaviour, particularly that which is youth and alcohol related. The police will not tolerate anti social behaviour of any kind. So do not ruin your night out or other people’s by causing a nuisance or fighting in public.

• The promotion of our local tourist industry while protecting the quality of life of locals by dealing with the problems that stem from the influx of large numbers of visitors to the area, particularly inconsiderate parking and speeding.

• The deterrence of rural theft and travelling criminals including the promotion of the very successful Farmwatch scheme. Based on the information we receive, the detection of and prosecution of offenders.

Of concern currently is the problem of inconsiderate parking, particularly on Queen Street and the surrounding side streets. The loading bays on Queen Street are designated for that purpose and not parking. When private cars are parked there deliveries cannot be made and delivery vans have to find alternative places to park which in turn causes further obstructions and annoyance to residents.

Please take up the opportunity to take note of the restricted streets as we will be issuing fines for vehicles parked illegally or causing an unnecessary obstruction.
