Bryan Hewson, Queen Street Postmaster and manager of Hadston Co-op, recently completed a charity bike ride in aid of Mencap, the Co-op’s designated charity this year.

Bryan set off on 5th September to complete his 186 mile ride, aiming to visit every Co-op in North Northumberland.
Leaving from the Newbiggin branch on the Monday he had to endure hailstones, but on the Tuesday he successfully dodged the showers, enabling him to enjoy the scenery in the Wooler, Berwick and Belford areas, and particularly when passing Holy Island.

As a treat en route, he stopped over at Seahouses so he could watch the England v Wales match.

Bryan visited Newbiggin, Lynemouth, Widdrington, Rothbury, Wooler, Berwick, Belford, Seahouses, Alnwick, the two in Amble and Hadston and raised a fantastic total of £1050.70, all collected from local people.

Bryan said, “I have never done this kind of thing before, but local people can hold their heads up, we’ve done our bit for Mencap.”
