Ann Burke is the new chairperson for Amble Business Club. She took over running the club in March and wants it to become a voice for busineeses in the town. “I see it as businesses getting together, networking, sharing common concerns,” she said.

Ann has been in business in Amble for over 27 years and has been pro-active in campaigning for parking changes in the town.

“Parking is definitely on the agenda,” said Ann, “but also we’re interested in the new developments and how they might affect businesses in the town. Street cleanliness is also important, as is town signage. We can stand at the top of Queen Street and see the crowd at the bottom. They don’t venture further.”

New puffin boards have been placed in key areas to encourage visitors to explore away from the quayside and discover the array of independent shops along Queen Street and beyond.

“Amble Business Club is open to anyone with a business in Amble. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 5.30pm at the Radcliffe Club.”
